About Original Northwood
We invite you to look at our unique neighborhood...a hidden jewel among Baltimore's best neighborhoods. Single family and townhouses range from $175,000 to $500,000. Northwood is an urban echo of a semi-rustic village that is casually nucleated in a wooded park-like setting. Development began in 1930 during the depression and reflects the vision of repetitive design themes such as half-timbering and stucco, irregular massing, and the New England house form with a jetty create a subtly unified totality. John Ahlers was the architect of the Roland Park Montebello Company hired to design and oversee the development of Northwood. The intent was to build homes in a planned community without sacrificing the natural beauty of the landscape. Existing large trees were kept, while winding streets and spacious lots were designed to conform to the natural terrain. Semi-attached, groups of attached homes, as well as detached houses make the neighborhood special! Our Original Deed and Agreement contains our covenants which govern all aspects of our exterior developments and requires prior approval from the community's Board of Governors. This has helped to maintain an exceptional high standard of living and rising property vales for this community of 377 residents! We are proud of our community, and thank you for your interest and concern. View Larger Map |
